More information about the CEFR exams can be found on the website of the Goethe-Institute Chicago: https://www.goethe.de/ins/us/en/sta/chi.html.  Practice materials and information are provided for each exam. The registration form can be found here: https://www.goethe.de/ins/us/en/sta/chi/prf/reg.html

If you want to take a CEFR exam, you have to:

  • Write two checks, one for the Goethe Institute and one made out to Susanne Even, Coordinator of the Language Program.
  • Download and fill in the Goethe registration form  and send it to the Goethe Institute Chicago, together with the Goethe check. This needs to be done at least four weeks before the scheduled exam to ensure timely delivery of exam papers. If the registration comes in late and exam papers have to be sent by overnight carrier, you are responsible for the shipping cost.
  • Register with Troy Byler (tbyler@indiana.edu) and Susanne Even (evens@indiana.edu) by the registration deadline for the respective exam. This can be done via a short email. You will be informed of the examination room after the registration deadline.
  • Bring a photo ID and the second check with you on the day of the exam.
