Cass earned her BA in linguistics and political science in 2013 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and loved it so much she stayed another year to complete a MA in political science with a focus on foreign policy and public affairs, awarded in 2014. She then worked in politics for a year and spent a year abroad in Germany before accepting a place in the PhD program in Germanic Studies here at Indiana University. She studies linguistics and philology, with a particular interest for phonology, morphology, syntax, and multilingual language processing and acquisition. In her free time, Cass loves to cook, horseback ride, write, and watch British dramas (prime phonological analysis content, of course!).
