Janine Emerson earned a BA at Ruhr-Universität Bochum in 2016, where she also obtained an MA in English and American Studies and German Studies with a grade point average of 1.1 (the equivalent of A) in 2019. Her masters project is an astonishingly achieved critical edition of Robert Louis Stevenson’s “The Merry Men”. As part of a student lecture series, Janine presented her thesis in a session entitled “Textkritik als Werkzeug der Interpretation – Eine Edition von Robert Louis Stevensons ‘The Merry Men’.” Since the completion of her degree, she has worked as an academic advisor at the private university of applied sciences FOM in Essen. She has also gained professional experience as an intern at DuMont publisher as well as an editorial assistant to the linguistics blog satzzeichen. Janine has spent 5 months at an American high school.
