If you are a high school German instructor looking for a supportive cohort and an opportunity for substantial professional development about current pedagogical approaches with German course content, please join us this summer on the Bloomington campus for our second annual program.
In an effort to provide quality programs for German language instructors searching for accreditation and promotion, the Germanic Studies department is continuing this new experience. Based on its success, we hope to offer GISP in the summers to come. Additionally, an optional, three-credit master’s level German content course is available to GISP participants for an extra tuition fee.
Our 2019 topic will be Märchen.
Check-in on Sunday, July 14, between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Willkie Residence Hall. After checking in, participants will begin a five-day, interactive program. This will include presentations in English and German by trained faculty, guided workshops on specific topics, exploration of methods and media, and cohort-building sessions and meals. After the conclusion of the program at noon on Friday, July 19, participants will return home with new materials, gained knowledge, and a certificate of completion recognizing the 38 professional development hours attained.
GISP Registration: $100
Deadline: June 1 (limited to 20 participants)
Includes: five-night stay in Willkie Residence Hall, most meals, parking, and materials
Optional Graduate Course: $1,287.53 (approximate)
GER-G625 Märchen: Those enrolled in the course will be required to work on a project/lesson plan to be submitted during the fall semester.
