The Ph.D. in Modern German Literature and Culture offers advanced students training in relevant research methodologies and thorough exposure to the canon of German thought, literature, performance, and media, beginning with the early modern period and continuing through contemporary literature and culture. (Note that beginning in 2026, the degree will be called "Ph.D. in Languages, Literatures & Cultures" with a track in modern German literature and culture.)
