Tyler studied at Indiana University from 2012 to 2016, receiving a BA in Germanic Studies and a BA in Political Science. For the academic year 2015-2016 he studied at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, where he focused on the politics of the European Union. A Max Kade fellow from 2016-17 and associate instructor from 2017-present, he received his MA in Germanic Studies from Indiana University in 2019. He is currently a Ph. D. student in Germanic Linguistics and Philology with research interests in synchronic and diachronic phonology, phonetics, and morphology, modern Germanic languages (primarily German, Dutch, Norwegian) and historical Germanic languages (Gothic, Old English, Old Icelandic, Old High German, and Old Saxon).
