Margaret McCool obtained a BA in History, German and Anthropology in 2018 at George Washington University, where she also tutored students in German. She will join Indiana University’s Department of History and plans to pursue a graduate degree with an emphasis on post-1945 Germany in modern European History. Her senior thesis on Hohenschönhausen, a Stasi prison for political prisoners in the GDR, was awarded the prize for the best senior thesis on a topic in an area outside the Unites States. She has spent time in Germany doing the research for this project with the help of the Luther Rice Undergraduate Research Fellowship in 2017. At Indiana University, she plans to pursue her research under the guidance of Mark Roseman, Padraic Kenney, Julia Roos.
