About Cynthia
I am a dual Ph.D. student in Comparative Literature and Germanic Studies. I am fascinated by (sometimes wacky) tradaptations of literary texts like Bae Suah’s Kafka, Tawada’s Ovid, heavy metal Macbeth, and so on. They are everywhere and come in all forms! I believe these “rewritings” create new meaningful connections between different bodies of literature and aesthetical tradition and ultimately give afterlife to literary texts. My other interest is robots in fiction, from Galatea to Major Kusanagi, and how they challenge our understanding of human emotions, bodies, and relations. Outside of school, I love playing video games and spotting yellow cars.
