Prerequisite: G300 Content Objectives - To provide a setting for intermediate students who wish to improve their oral communication skills in German by familiarizing them with strategies, vocabulary, topics and cultural background to do so. This course is mostly meant for shy students, students who need to build their vocabulary, and for those who have not had enough oral practice in their previous German learning environments. Another focus of the first half of the course is improving pronunciation. - To raise students¿ awareness of subtle and not-so-subtle differences in cultural norms, behaviors, and attitudes, thus preparing them for an extended stay in Germany or Austria. - Class activities may include discussions in small groups, pair work, skits, verbal and nonverbal communication exercises, pronunciation practice, class presentations, and short lectures by the instructor.
