"German for Musicians" GER V-605 2 credits and MUS V-580 2 credits German for Musicians is a dual course taught collectively by the German department and the Jacobs School of Music. It fulfills a regular graduate grammar class requirement AND it uses, almost exclusively, terms and vocabulary from the concert halls, the opera houses, the symphony halls, music conservatories, classical German Songs, and orchestral terms for all instruments. There are chapters about music conservatory students, symphony players, opera singers, all living and working and studying in Germany. Each chapter has a quoted Lied text, which offers the chance to include live performances of several German and Austrian compositions. Please peruse our textbook by Josephine Barber entitled "German for Musicians." I am glad to speak with anyone who is interested in knowing more. As a retired opera singer who worked in Germany and Austria, I was excited to re-live many of my life experiences.
