Graduate students wishing to study abroad may apply for several fellowships, all of which are available annually on a competitive basis to graduate students in any department. These include four Indiana University direct exchange fellowships with the Free University of Berlin.

The Indiana University Bloomington campus also selects and submits nominees for DAAD fellowships to Germany, and organizes the local student application process for Fulbright-Hays scholarships.
