Topic: This course is a graduate-level introduction to the syntax of German. We will survey a wide range of syntactic phenomena in German, from individual words such as pronouns, to agreement, to the structure of different clause types. These phenomena will be compared to closely related languages and analyzed using both traditional and Generative frameworks. Students will read and evaluate some recent research in the field.
